Scientific Seminars with Prof. Elena Cattaneo and Prof. Mario Giordano

The seminars are aimed at highlighting the quality of Italian research in the biomedical and biological-environmental fields, in order to increase the reputation of our universities in Indonesia and stimulate possible interactions in higher education and research.

The themes addressed by Prof. Cattaneo will be linked to his research on Huntington's disease, a genetic disease, object of social stigma, especially in developing countries. Prof. Cattaneo will also talk about the new frontiers of stem cell research.

Prof. Giordano, given the importance that the sea has for the Indonesian people, its culture and its traditions, will deal with the relationship between the "Marine environment and the evolution of life on the planet". In his lectures he will try to highlight, through examples, the relevance of photosynthetic microorganisms for the existence of all living organisms and for the support of the trophic networks at the base of the exploitation of marine resources.
