A group of ageing hunters talks about ‘Marcella’s Mario’, a man who lived in a cave in their hunting area sixty years ago, cut off from the world. Mario’s nickname ‘il solengo’ comes from the wild boar these men hunt every year: it’s the name that mature male wild boar is given if they isolate themselves from their group. The makers film each hunter separately; each speaker has his own idea of the hermit – from banished village idiot to tragic victim of a family feud.
