Seminar on Virtual Technology for Cultural Heritage and Scientific Conservation.

The Faculty of Art and Design, Institute of Technology Bandung and Borobudur Conservation Office in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute, Jakarta organize a two-days event, which consists of a seminar and a workshop.

The seminar, to introduce the new technology for conservation of cultural heritage, is conducted by Brahmantara and Panggah Ardiansyah from Borobudur Conservation Office; Pindi Setiawan, Hendy Tiasa and Dianing Ratri from Insitute of Technology Bandung and Michaela Anselmini, an Italian restorer. The second day is dedicated to a workshop on reading the relief scenes of Borubudur temple.

Michaela Anselmini will conduct a seminar entitled “Science for Conservation: New Technology for Cultural Heritage Conservation”. The seminar will give an overview on the general introduction on architectural restoration and recovery, such as cleaning, consolidation and protection of stones and rocks, followed by specific topics on new technologies for Cultural Heritage Conservation: Art Laser, the new eco-friendly/non chemical technology for cleaning stones, rocks, metals, wood, paintings, paper, leather. The seminar shows how it works, what can be cleaned, where it can be used.

The restorer Anselmini introduces several new technologies such as: Nevek, a cleaning system based on the extractive and retaining properties of Agar-Agar, Artshield – anti-graffiti product for monuments, new water-based material for protection and cleaning, ISOSEP Mistral D, disinfestations station in a controlled atmosphere and Estel products.

This event is organized in the framework of VIVERE ALL’ITALIANA Festival, the Festival of Italian Way of Life.
